Swedish Massage (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Medical Massage (Back to Top)

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the time needed to recover from injuriers.

Auto Accident Insurance: (PIP) & (Med-Pay)

We specialize in treating soft tissue injuries resulting from auto accidents; particularly whiplash injuries. Whiplash from motor vehicle accidents is thought to be a major cause of late-developing chronic neck pain, headaches and stiffness. Even low-speed accidents can generate enough kinetic energy to cause microscopic ligament and muscle tears and vertebral misalignments.  It is important to make sure that these injuries are properly treated, to prevent problems from resurfacing in the future. If you carry Medical Payments (Med Pay) or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage under your auto insurance policy, it will most likely cover 100% of necessary medical treatment up to your policy limit, regardless of who is at fault.  If you are not at fault, you can use your Med Pay insurance to get proper medical care without fear of having your rates go up.  If you have regular health insurance through your employer, it may require you to utilize your auto insurance Med Pay first, or prove that you do not carry it under your auto insurance policy, before it covers treatment for injuries sustained in a car accident. If you were a passenger in someone else’s car and are injured in an accident, you should get the car owner’s auto insurance information.   In this scenario, the car owner’s Med Pay coverage, should he have it, will cover your medical care up to the policy limit.  You may also be able to use your own Med Pay coverage, even though your car was not involved, without fear of having your rates go up.  Check with your insurance agent. If you do not have Med Pay coverage and were involved in a car accident, you were not at fault, you require medical care, and your car requires repair, then you should make sure to get the insurance information of the party at fault.  This is called Third Party insurance.  Third Party insurance does not accept claims from medical providers; they only reimburse the claimant (you in this case) directly for his/her medical bills and auto repair bills.  It is this clinic’s policy in Third Party cases to require payment for services at the time that they are rendered, or to bill the patient’s Med Pay policy directly.  However, in some cases where the patient is represented by an experienced personal injury attorney, we may at our discretion treat the patient on a personal injury attorney lien. In this scenario, the patient will not have to pay for treatment at the time of the visit. Instead, the patient agrees to pay for his/her final medical bill with proceeds from his/her settlement.

Trigger Point Therapy (Back to Top)

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

On-Site Chair Massage (Back to Top)

On-Site Chair Massage for Businesses or Special Events
Chair or "Seated" massage makes use of a special, comfortable massage chair that the fully clothed client is seated in and receives treatment on the back, neck, arms, and hands. The chair massage helps to release stress, muscle tension, and pain, while increasing circulation. It is very helpful for employees who sit for long hours and/or use computers in preventing serious conditions such as carpel tunnel syndrome, rounded shoulder/head forward postural problems, and other work-related conditions. It can be done at location of employment, at special events, and in our massage studio. Corporate accounts are available.

Aromatherapy (Back to Top)

Aromatherapy is an ancient practice of using essential oil to heal by stimulating the olfactory senses, mental responses, circulatory andrespiratory functions. It is one of the fastest growing forms of the healing arts in this country. It employs highly concentrated essential oils extracted from herbs and flowers that contain hormones, vitamins, antibiotics and antiseptics. Applied to the skin during a massage or through inhalation, the oil or combination of oils can be used for medicinal, meditative, restorative, or relaxation purposes.

TMJ Massage (Back to Top)

TMJ massage can be a great aid in reducing or eliminating most of the pain that a TMJ patient is having. In fact, almost 90% of the pain in these patients comes from stressed muscles. The muscles are attempting to protect the jaw joint and reposition the whole jaw to avoid pain. However, because this is a constant activity, the muscle's work never ends and the muscles begin to have problems. At first, the healthy muscle goes into spasm while holding the jaw in a protected position. The muscle then becomes inflamed and tightens.TMJ massage can help a muscle that has overly tightened. A tight muscle can squeeze the arteries and veins going into and out of the muscles. Then, blood cannot get into the tight muscle so there is a build up of waste products inside the muscle. This could cause more TMJ pain and can escalate into a vicious cycle of further tightening and pain. TMJ massage relaxes the muscles and allows nourishing blood to get into the hurting jaw muscles. This allows the healing process to begin. However, if the bad jaw joint continues to be a problem when the patient goes home, the muscle will again overwork holding the joint out of proper alignment and the muscle pain may return.

LAVA SHELL MASSAGE (Back to Top)

LAVA SHELL MASSAGE
Each and every Lava Shell is a 100% real Tiger Striped Clam shell, hand-selected in the Philippine Islands for size, shape and structural integrity. The clams have been harvested by local islanders for hundreds of years to be used for food, but with no use for the shell, it was previously discarded. Now those shells and recycled them into beautiful and effective massage tools. The shells are composed of calcium carbonate, the same material found in our bones and teeth. The shell in the picture above is what they look like after polishing and sanding, but the shell's natural surface is white and ridged, with a rough, almost chalky texture. The color patterns present in the shell come from the nutrients the shell has absorbed throughout the clam's life--each shell's pattern is as unique as a fingerprint.Because the shells are calcium carbonate, they give off calcium ions naturally when heated, which are transferred directly to the skin during the massage process. The calcium helps to regulate the skin's natural renewal processes and can help to give a client firmer, healthier looking skin, while also reaping all the benefits of a heated massage treatment.

Acupressure (Back to Top)

Acupressure is a form of bodywork similar to acupuncture, with the aim of stimulating specific points along the energy lines of the body to establish overall health and vitality by balancing your Qi (energy) flow.  Unlike acupuncture however, with this modality I use my hands to apply pressure to the specific points rather than needling, producing similar therapeutic results.
